UPDATE: Jan. 30, 2024, 12:00 p.m. EST This post is updated weekly to track the latest products participating in Best Buy Drops. This week's upcoming Drops include a Disney+ gift card, a cheap 43-inch 4K TV, and the Shark FlexStyle.

When it comes to shopping, a scarcity mindset is just as convincing as that one friend who always enables you to buy something you don't need. It's why there's often a timer breathing down your neck from the corner of the screen during a sitewide sale. It's exactly why Amazon's invite-only Prime Day deals and Black Friday deals popped off, and why Walmart lets Walmart+ members get their hands on new groups of big shopping event deals hours before the general public can.

And it's probably why Best Buy conveniently announced Best Buy Drops just ahead of the holiday shopping season. We're pleasantly surprised that Drops turned out to not just be a holiday treat, though — it has solidified its spot as the middle tab of the Best Buy app, and we'll certainly be taking advantage of this unique shopping hack as long as Best Buy will let us.

Best Buy Drops is a shopping hack dedicated to giving shoppers a heads-up about upcoming high-profile items and deals in categories like gaming, cheap TVs, fan-favorite toys and merch, high-profile hair tools, kitchen gadgets, and more dropping at Best Buy in the next week. As long as you have the Best Buy mobile app, you can preview what's coming on what day so that you're ready to click "add to cart" when the item or deal goes live.

If a Drop is currently live while you're on the app, a status bar showing the percentage of inventory that has been claimed can give an idea of how fast you need to act. Once inventory for a certain Drop is gone, it's gone.

The Drops tab also keeps a list of past Drops, which have included a limited-edition PlayStation 5 Marvel's Spider-Man bundle, Pokémon Squishmallows, a super cheap 50-inch TV, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Even if you missed these, you at least have an idea of what similar items could pop up in the coming weeks. To look ahead, check the upcoming tab.

For extra cushion, you can opt-in to Drop Alerts for an extra reminder right before the drop of a product you care about goes live. Joining My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total will unlock even better discounts on Drops than what the general public is getting.

What's dropping at Best Buy Jan. 31 through Feb. 9

Best Buy is only revealing the names of the upcoming products — not their actual Drop prices — in the Drop preview tab, so any prices listed below are the current price of the said product as it is on Best Buy's site pre-Drop. Drops go live around 11 a.m. ET on the specified day (usually a string of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in any given week), and inventory is typically fully claimed by 5 p.m. that day.

Disney+ doesn't really do direct discounts, so your best bet for finding a Disney+ deal usually maxes out at a bundle option — or in this case, taking the discounted gift card route. This $100 gift card could cover a year of Disney+ Basic with ads ($7.99/month) or about seven months of Disney+ Premium without ads ($13.99/month). Unlike most streaming promos for which only new subscribers are eligible, gift cards are just an alternate payment method, so current subscribers are good to go here.

Best Buy offered a 15% discount on Disney+ gift cards during Black Friday, which took the $100 one to $85. We expect the Drop price to match that, or be even cheaper.

Your salt-splattered car and post-snow sidewalk would appreciate the glow up that this compact pressure washer could give it ahead of spring. The main nozzle sprays with power up to 1,900 PSI coming from a 13-amp motor to tackle light to medium-duty tasks like cars, patios and decks, and other outdoor flooring.

Going for $219.99 at regular price, we could see this Greenworks washer dropping by at least $50, but it would be ideal to get $70 off to hit the sweet spot of $149.

Dropping: Feb. 2

The peace of mind that a durable portable hard drive can bring a heavy computer user is pretty priceless — but if Best Buy had to put a price on it, we'd guess that it wouldn't be much more than $50 for this Drop. WD's My Passport Ultra is USB-C-equipped and compatible with Windows 10 and above and Mac OS 11 and above. The dragon on this red limited edition one makes it easy to spot when you're on the go.

GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker
$399.99 at Best Buy (save $300)

That drool-worthy wood smoked flavor that screams summer doesn't have to be reserved for just one season. You can achieve that same authentic smoking from the comfort of home with GE's app-connected indoor electric smoker. This chic clear door smoker turns real wood pellets into warm air, fine-tuning the release of aromatic compounds based on your ideal smoke level for brisket, ribs, speciality cocktail ingredients, and more.

GE's smart smoker retails at $999.99 and is already rocking a $300 discount at Best Buy just because. We wouldn't be surprised if the Drop shaves off another $100 or two, ideally bringing this premium smoker below $500.

Pioneer TV with landscape view and colorful sky screensaver

Peak moving season may not start until later in the spring, but if you know you'll soon be needing a small, cheap TV for your new place, don't sleep on this Drop. This 43-inch 4K TV from Pioneer supports Dolby Vision and sports an HDMI 2.1 port for better frame rates and boosted resolution — an addition not often seen on TVs at this price point.

Best Buy has already dropped this TV to $169.99 ($100 off) once in winter 2024, so Best Buy's Drop pricing on this model will almost certainly be even lower than that. $149.99 would be sweet.

The Shark FlexStyle is a fierce competitor for the Dyson Airwrap — though the fact that you can buy two FlexStyles for less than the price of one Airwrap is a major flex for Shark. Mashable's Bethany Allard dubs the FlexStyle and its twisting base mechanism as "way more affordable and worth it" than the Airwrap, with both stylers effectively channeling the Coanda air technique to achieve low-frizz at-home blowouts. This version of the FlexStyle comes with four attachments: two different curler sizes, a round brush, a flat brush, and a concentrator.

The last time the internet's favorite Dyson Airwrap dupe got the Drop treatment, it was up for grabs for $199.99. We're hopeful to see that price tag again this time around.
